EU moves to get women properly on board

Brussels moves to get women properly on Board

The European Parliament voted this Wednesday 20th November 2013 with an overwhelming majority (459 for, 148 against and 81 abstentions) to back the European Commission’s proposed law to radically improve the gender balance in Europe’s company boardrooms.
This proposal endorsed wholeheartedly by the Members of the European Parliament signals a clear line of travel for European Business, with the first of the two European Union’s co-legislators having endorsed the proposed law.  It is now down to the Member States  to reach agreement on the draft law, between themselves and with the European Parliament, for this draft legislation to enter the EU statute book.

The heat is now clearly on to find new board talent amongst female businesswomen and NEDs from the public and third sector.
